I am an author, curator and self-described “cultural infrastructure builder” operating between the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia and that bustling art metropolis of New York City.
I have worked as a curator in the public sphere for over twenty years doing performance, digital media, community gatherings and large-scale sculpture. I worked at Creative Time in New York, MASS MoCA, and more recently I tried my hand at envisioning a museum for the 21st century in Philadelphia. I have come to love the two sides of curatorial work: the conceptual artist driven part and the pragmatic get-it-done side of art. Honestly, I have come to realize how much the world benefits from both of these coming together to make dreams literally transpire in the world.
I left working for non-profits in 2020 to try my hand at entrepreneurial ventures and to make my own cultural infrastructures. That is when I started The Alternative Art School, an online art school matching established top-teir artists with working artists around the globe. I also tried my hand with a digital art company, artwrld, which I have since departed, but really enjoyed working with artists to make incredible digital artworks.
I also started my consulting company Dreaming in Public which has allowed me to work with a lot of incredible organizations, artists and cultural enthusiasts around the world. It has been a true labor of love.
I continue to write when I can. I have another book on the way (as always). I have a young boy who is growing up to be a genuine contribution to this delicate planet.
